Hello, Looking to buy the Watch here. What do you think? Ref: 26XXXXX Only thing remove is the capsule to protect the movement. Wich price you think?
Depends on the asking price... And of the running condition. This may help : http://speedmaster101.com/price-chart-2/
Running condition seems to be good I checked chrono and works well. The Watch has been revised recently. Watch is sold by a vintage dealer recognized. What do you think would be a good or fair price?
Is there documentation/evidence that the watch has been recently serviced? If there isn't, you're putting a lot of faith in a promise. They should have taken movement shots during servicing.
I do not like the flaking lume on the plots... The hands look OK. The bezel is a bit bluish (cool) or maybe it's the shot... What about the crown, case-back and movement (a shot is mandatory for price evaluation)? The bracelet looks like a 1039.
Too much will be my guess, if he cant even replace the dust cover (if thats what "Remove the capsule" means and if he thinks that handset is correct. Or maybe not. The dial seems like it could be a nice body colour but the lume is gone, and may or may not be an unattractive colour. (My Italian friends, and others, call this "Washed") Minute hand is wrong. Bezel is better than some but not fine. Seems a good basis for a nice watch subject to movement, dial plots, change to correct hands. So quite a project, one that needs a good watchmaker sympathetic to Vintage Speedmasters.
Well the photos do not show the watch in the same state, so I am out of this until you can show confirmed photos.
So there is no evidence to support this other than his "word" If so, I wouldn't even consider the watch personally.
If you're looking at watches of this age/value, you REALLY REALLY need to do your own homework. I've been looking at Speedies for 6 months and I wouldn't even consider buying one of this age/value since I don't feel comfortable with my current knowledge base. Just my 2 cents. Happy hunting
