Hi guys. Just in final stages of potentially acquiring an unpolished 145.012-67 HF. Dial appears to me mint despite some tritium dust. Lume seems original but not an expert.

I don't have a movement shot but apparently the extract is consistent. If there are any alarm bells I'd greatly appreciate the input.

    Is that Alex's hand?

Looks nice, good bezel, nice hands, decent case (other than caseback), looks like an original crown, wide T dial is right. I'm a bit suspicious of the lume personally. It looks a little wobbly, but for the right price, that wouldn't necessarily stop me. What does the seller say about it?

Does the movement look ok? Does the number line up with expected ranges? What's the bracelet? Endlinks?

Dial and hands look like they have been relumed to me. Very good looking bezel.

Lol. Not sure who's hand that is. I'm having it checked out in the metal tomm. I'll confirm the movement then.

I know the 66's (like my 105.012) had rather puffy/wobbly lume. Seller says it was 1 owner until last year and all original...not relume. The lume is really the main "concern" for me at the moment. I'm 99% sure it's fine, but that 1% of doubt could be a costly one!

The bracelet could add a fair chuck to the price tag, but nice to have the whole package. I'd be ready to put a price to the bracelet so you can gauge the price of the head only against comparables (and the price chart).

    Good luck!

Looks like a Pawawi case back tool...so whose watch is this?

On second look, lume application is a bit chunky, especially on the edge of the plots. IMG_20170328_085115_665.jpg

The lume on my '67-SP looks flat & thin and not so thick and oval as OP's watch.

My gut is telling me re-lume on this one, if it were a 105.003 then maybe.....but on a '66?
I haven't been scouring the Speedy sales like I used to, so my eye may be off, but I would value it as relumed.

    it is relumed for sure!
but this would not stop me from buying it, off course if the price is right!

I have a 145.012-67 with similar hours markers and it is definitely tritium: it faintly glows in the dark and close-up pictures show a pourousness usually missing in the relumes I saw.
I don't think this watch has been relumed.

I think too dial has not been relumed. I owned several examples of 145012 with this kind of lume.

Not being a expert at first look i would say that looks relumen but for me is just a bad lume application from Omega.

Well if the dealer is saying that was not relumen you always can give it back if its relumed.

    Cheers

I own a 145.012-67 with very similar lume. Color is more toward orange, but geometry is the same. Lume glows very very faintly in total darkness, and brightly but briefly if hit with strong light. Also shows some porosity and texture under very high magnification. There are threads on her about wobbly lume (and orange lume), and I'd say your candidate Speedmaster looks fully consistent with examples posted in those threads and in here.

Then 105.012-66 CB I have has very straight, flat, crisp, even lume. So I think that this is another example of lot and supplier variance.

I'd feel confident based on my experience and information/examples here on OF buying this watch.

In fact - that tritium dust is consistent with tritium flaking that you find on some watches of this period. It would probably give me some more added confidence when taken as a whole.

Additionally - the case, bracelet, and bezel all are in great vintage shape. They have signs of age and use - without being degraded. Same with the crown, caseback, and pushers. The dial is in great shape with no apparent defects, water damage, or "loose parts drawer rash" showing in these photos. So, for somebody to have the watch in this condition, yet relume the hands dial just wouldn't add up!!

Thanks guys. I did end up buying it last month. It was originally delivered to the 6th Fleet according to the extract. Very happy with it. Serial is smack in the middle if the "Ultramans" which typically have the puffier lume as well.
