Ok, so I posted last week about help deciding whether I should buy the speedy reduced for $1,700 no box, no papers, unknown serviced but working properly. It has been polished and looks great! I am a smaller wrist person so not interested in the professional.

HELP!

I’m sure you’ve already been told about the potentially higher repair costs, so that hasn’t put you off. Buy it if you like it. There are plenty of happy owners out there. Me being one of them.

If it's working properly then I think $1700 is a good price for it. It's an excellent watch--servicing is more expensive, but the movement is more complicated. I know there are recommended service intervals but you could probably get away with using it for longer.

So, have you now bought it? What are you still unsure about? The Reduced model or the particular example you have?

i have not bought it. The seller let me borrow for a week to see if I like it. I am unsure cause it comes naked and service is unknown. I want to be sure I can at least get my money back if I decide to sell. Another thing is that it’s polished, I wonder if that makes it loose value? I own seikos, so this will be my biggest purchase.

Just curious if you'd had the opportunity to try out a Speedmaster Date. Also automatic and smaller than the Pro, but addresses many of the concerns about the reduced.

I have not. I have a budget of no more than 2k at the moment.

Well, I don't follow prices that closely for these, but I don't think you're too far off if you find one for sale by a private seller, e.g. in the sales listings on this forum. Anyway, it would be helpful to try one on if possible.

The date is a great Piece but no all black ones if I remember only the white panda and grey panda. There is also mk40 in all black aka triple date.

personally I’d take an mk40 in all black over a reduced.
