Hey everyone,
So I got this watch a few months ago, and was able to have the crystal replaced, As it was super beat up. I knew there was something underneath that is damage but I’m not sure what is causing it. Now that it has new glass and a gasket is it good to go or is it going to naturally get worse? Any ideas what it is?

Looks like a redial and has been sprayed with a lacquer like substance to give it that shiny new look. Looks like the lacquer has started peeling away has this watch been somewhere hot ? Left in the sun ect ? Could just be the age of the lacquer and it's started peeling away.

Sadly don’t know the history of the watch I had purchased it on eBay as a gift but delay in repair caused it to be too late so I gifted something else. Text looked too clear that unless redial was just a clear coat? Have people done that? Here’s a better picture of all the text. New to Omegas so I appreciate it!

Text looks a lot better in that photo. Unfortunately these things do happen due to age or how it's stored? Moisture will Also do this.

What makes you say it's a redial?

By the first picture looks like a ant had wrote out seamaster. The other picture that was sent was a lot better just shows how things can look so differently from picture to picture

You didn't know that's how most dials are made in the first place?

Yes I know that.but by the first picture it looked like a redial and we all know redials are never as good as the originals but when the other picture got sent you could tell it was possibly wasn't

Looks like a factory original dial that is starting to lose its lacquer. It may stabilise if the cause (moisture) has now been removed. However, if the cause is simply ageing, it will likely continue now it’s started.
I assume it was cheap so I wouldn’t worry about it, what will be will be, just wear it and enjoy it for what it is.

helpful to know it’s the lacquer I couldn’t tell if it was an active moisture problem although now with the new seal it will last longer hopefully. And yes bought it for a fair price. Looking forward to wearing it out and about.
