Up for sale is a very nice and uncommon 1940s 35mm steel, step case Baume & Mercier chronograph powered by a Valjoux 22 movement. From my research, it seems the Prima branding was reserved for models with the higher grade Valjoux movements and steel or solid gold cases. Please see below for full info, and feel free to message me with questions.

Dial: Original, non-refinished silver dial features attractive glossy numerals. The dial has developed light, even patina. The dial is signed as a Prima model, which appears to have been reserved for higher end models with steel or gold and Valjoux movements.

Case: Original, unpolished 35mm stainless steel case features an attractive stepped bezel and wears very well on the wrist. The case is in nice condition. It has an engraving on the caseback that reads (in French): “in memory of my dear brother in law Henri”. Case has 18mm fixed bar lugs.

Crown: Original unsigned crown.

Crystal: Crystal is free of scratches.

Movement: Original Valjoux 22 movement was serviced by Chandler at CLTimeworks in April-2022. It runs, winds, and sets well and chrono functions all work as expected.

Bracelet: Watch is now sold with the vintage Soviet bracelet pictured (see last photo).

Price is $1400 (dropped from $2500) shipped globally. Bank transfer/Wise (or similar) for payment. OF seller reviews are here. Returns are accepted if the watch is grossly misrepresented. Watch is located in the USA.

I would immediately grab it, if it were located in the EU (from the USA more than 25% taxes and duties added for me 🙁)

I wonder why no US fellow has taken this opportunity yet.

It really is nice I was thinking it would be perfect for @ghce but he’s not in the US either but it would look great on him.
