    I really love my 1953 Longines (cal.23Z). The case is solid 14ct. I paid a fraction of the OP's budget on an eBay auction. Most excellent timekeeper too.

    For the record, since the time I started this thread, I have also acquired a nice stainless 167.005 piepan Connie with the help of the generous folks on this board. And still the sickness shows no sign of waning.
