    Hi there!

I've been looking at the same watch. While I have seen other vintage Speedmasters with very yellow lume markers, the lume on the one up for auction is very even, and the exact same color as the lume on the hour and chrono spear hand.
Typically you see some degradation (white spots) on the lume at the inside of the hour markers (closest to the center of the dial).
It could be original, but it might also be a re-lume.

Curious to hear the OF experts opinion on this!

I have an additional question for anyone with more knowledge:
The clasp of the bracelet shows 1039, but there is no year stamp on the right of the clasp.
I was under the impression all bracelets have some sort of production marker on the clasp, like the first pic below?
Second picture is from the one on auction...

Some 1039 bracelets are not year stamped, that's ok.

He is the best technically that I know - the only criticisms leveled at him is that he can be too perfect for some tastes

My impression was that Hyman had better taste than that; the watch looks like a Halloween Special. Could just be the photos I guess.

Yeah, the lume is a bit too perfect for my taste.

1039 is probably from late 1972 or so, when they were still making them but no longer stamping dates.

It didn't sell. Curious what the reserve price was. It was currently just under €7.5K.
Which was about what I had guessed the reserve would be. Although the "auctioneer" had it's expected value set at 15-19.5K ::screwloose::
