What are your thoughts on this humble, but somewhat marred, 105.012-65?

I can't read the movement number (maybe someone can) but let's assume it's a correct serial. *

It looks like an honest -65 to me, if perhaps a bit too honest. My friend was offered this piece for USD8650 - In terms of value I was thinking around USD5000 imho - but I am far from knowledgeable on current 321 prices, especially one in this condition.

I assume there will be some who will like it and other not so much and the extremes at either end - but would you own it?

    * Watch is in another country and not with its owner at present - so no chance of a close up of the movement number for a few weeks.

I personally like the look of a bada$$ watch but case/caseback have been well polished and especially with a steep price like this. Serial is unreadable and there might me a reason for it, and I don't really like the stories where the seller is not in the country he's supposed to live in and do not have the watch with him because of some strange explanations... some many scammers on the internet now, the guys are doing great website now to make you think everything is legit, I avoided one yesterday... I am not saying this is necessarily the case here but I would say to remain cautious

I think the price is too high considering the dial and case condition, also the sweep second hand looks like a later replacement (it should be a spear hand) and I am not a great fan of the seller story, you should stay cautious.

That looks like a grey " Moondust " lunar surface dial if I ever say one

Regarding the story, well, that's wise and sensible advice - I will most certainly pass that on!

The pricing is a little steep IMO, however I absolutely love the look of the watch, looks like something out of Mad Max...!

5k $ is ok for this watch - a certain ground substance is there!

The dial looks like it survived a flood.

I guess the dial has been cooked (even fried)...

I like these kinds of watches if the price is right. Lots of patina, character, whatever you want to call it. Ghosts of the past. It was once beautiful and still is. It lived.

I'd say it looks like it didn't survive. Not to my taste.

Is it only me who thinks this dial looks familiar?
