good evening, Looking to purchase this lovely Omega Chronograph, it not with out it's problems is losing an hour Per Day, I'm thinking a good overhaul will sort this out but really unsure . Can anyone shine some light on what I be be letting myself in to . Thanks Steve
Looks like a nice & correct example. A 321 service won't be cheap, even if no parts are needed. Whether it is a good deal depends on the price.
I managed to get it down to $2000 plus shipping to the UK. My speedy cost my just on £500 at STS for a complete overhaul with no parts needed only a couple oh month age . I have heard horror story's that servicing a321 movement can cost £££ but I suppose that's the gamble we take with vintage time pieces .
And so too, the cal 321 chronos start to dry up. Nice looking watch btw. I think that £500 for a service + parts is about right. Last I checked, Omega listed it at $700 USD.
The dial on this one could be better. Fairly severe scratching on the sub dials and some marks/scratches around dial. Factoring in at least a $500 service I think $2000 is a bit high for this.
I agree with Hijak. There are normally a few 321 seamasters available. I think you can do better on price and/or quality. I purchased this 2886 about 6 months ago. (1956, cal 321) My wife loves it.
Lovely looking example of a seamaster. Seeing your I feel I have to raise the bar in the quality of the dial . Thanks for sharing you photos . Steve
The porblem with dial when they are spotted or in not so good condition some sellers sell them at prices higher than 2500$ while being unserviced. Omega charges way much more than 700$ for a total restoration of a 321. Very good to pristine condition examples are indeed in the 3000-4000$ sometimes more depending to the 321 semaster model you are looking for.But as much as nice condtion is the movement, the dial is in very average condition. Add to this, the cost of servicing and possible dial restoration, it is indeed not worthy to spend money on it.
