Hi all. Thought I'd post this update and share some photos I bought this 105.003-64 in April last year. https://omegaforums.net/threads/you-guys-are-not-going-to-like-this-105-003.24357/ Here are some pics of how it looks now. I want to thank everyone for their help and advice. It's been an interesting learning curve. Thanks to lwong I was able to find the correct crown. I also found a DON bezel on eBay, it’s not perfect but I think it makes the watch look much better overall. STS provided a service and "aged" the hands, fitted new correct size pushers and the old crown and bezel. They also slightly refinished the case (sides and back) although it had been over polished in the past so not a lot could be done. I also now know from the archives extract that the watch left the factory for Lebanon in January 1965. I elected to not have the dial touched and at the risk of this becoming another relume/ don’t relume thread, that’s the only thing I’m in two minds about. It’s pretty pale…. Anyway, as always I welcome everyone’s honest thoughts and opinions. Thanks and Happy New Year! David.
Excellent job -well done. Bezel looks like it has always been on the watch and I like the grey camel matching of the chrono hand lume and the dial indices. Simon at STS is a real artist - as well as being a great watchmaker and delightful guy.
Good job ! Moreover it's a real pleasure to take time, learn, search, find and end up with such a result
Looks great to me. Perfect every day wearer, Super Cool. I have had two Speedmasters at STS and cant speak highly enough of them.
Much improved! Regarding the dial, is lume still present or is it just the White paint? If you're ynsure you can expose it to a camera flash in a dark room. If lume is present it will glow faintly afterwards.
I think it has a sort of ghostly look of its own. I especially like the bright white of the writing on the dial. Others don't "pop" as much as this one, in that sense. But it is a shame that no lume remains.
It's not the end of the world. While nicely aged lume does make a big difference, I have a transitional with white markers which looks much better in the flesh and makes a great daily wearer. It still has the applied logo which helps to give the dial extra depth.
If that's a dark & stormy, we have more in common than both owning Ed Whites... Great looking watch, btw!
