Hello everyone, Below is a 105.003 with, according to the seller, a factory grey dial. Do you know if these are legit ? I would guess a later service replacement dial due to the presence of professional, but I never seen a grey dial. How about the absence of "Swiss made" ? I would be very interested in your opinions about that dial. Thank you very much folks !
I'm no expert, but didn't service dials for the straight-lug models still not feature the "Professional" writing, and came with short indices? Also yeah, never seen a Speedmaster dial without "Swiss Made" ...
Looks just like some legit and very rare grey/blue dials for the straight lugs documented first time by Matteo here on OF a while back. Only difference is this one says Professional which is wrong for this reference.
Not really. Yours won't have the hour indices (as well as the chapter ring) farther away from the center like this one. Look at the two dots at 12 and the all the minute hashes which don't reach the step like normal dials. This is also the reason why Swiss Made are hiddden under the tension/reflector ring.
Thanks all for the opinions. Still not clear for me if those kind of dials are service factory grey or service regular black Due to the professional and that I could not find a similar grey dial on internet, I think I will let this one pass. Really like that dial though but I too much uncertainty for my taste
The point is that this dial is more likely to fit a 145.012 case. If I were you as it's almost impossible to find an original non "professoinal" dial, I would try to find the correct 145.012 and sell this one for quite a fortune. Your dial really deserve a decent case.
So do I. But a nice black. I have almost the same one One of this case has gone for more than somthing like 5000 dollars a few weeks ago. The case alone
The photos are really bad in terms of how they're lit, this is the same watch on the same day with the same camera with the flash in three different positions. The weird glowing halo around the edge of the crystal is similar to what we normally see on a sapphire crystal Speedmaster, but happens when you've got a really bright light source at a bad angle to the crystal and dial. These watches always look so different in photos compared to reality, and as you see below the actual colour of the dial is far more a matter of the photography and lighting than the dial itself.
thes halo is just due to the very shiny tension ring IMO. This latter must not be the correct one, hence the lack of "swiss made"
Thank you very much for all your inputs, especially The Master of speed for that out of that world thread on blue/grey dial speedies. That watch is actually presented on the thread ! Unfortunately, this is not my watch but I consider buying more and more. Seller asks 12500 Euros
