Hello OF members, I won a 105.003-65 Ed White with 2453XXXX at UK auction house a month ago. Due to some reasons, I get the watch these few days only. As you can see photos, crown+winding stem and 1 pusher cap are lost. I did check with ilovespeedmaster, it should be produced in April 1967. I already reserved money for a service later. Dial: In some angle, some area has a bit brown tone. Some plots are a bit black and lost. It should not be relumed, am I correct? Bezel: Faded Dots Over Ninety with dirts Case: The watch has engraved some numbers (I do not know what it means?) in a lug. There is also a serious dent in pusher area. I cannot recognize, is it over polished? Pusher: I do believe it is a replacement. What is the number for the pusher cap? Bracelet: Auction house did not show photo for bracelet clasp. I expect it is 7912, 1501 or 1035. Interestingly, it is 1039 4/67 instead. Are 6 end links genuine? Is bracelet correct? Should I change the clasp? I do not have another watch with cal 321 but have a 145.022-68 Traditional, can I use that crown+winding stem to test Ed White to see if movement is worked or not? What is the number for the winding stem? I will find flat feet crown on the bay. Really sorry for a lot of questions, thank you.
A search on Cousins using the ‘branded parts’ section and searching by reference no should give you the stem number.
I don´t intend to sound offensive at all, but mind you, how can you risk to buy a watch of this value when you have to ask these questions?
On the other hand: I don’t see the question of finances mentioned in his post - what was spent, whether he regrets spending it, or if it was a financial hardship at all. We have no idea what his disposable income is. This could be just spare change, we don’t know.
No problem. I do not have MWO book but I learnt a lot from this forum and speedmaster101. As advised, I have another Speedie but cal. 321 is the first time I own. I always wish to buy non-professional because of history. In addition, i do believe my buying price is a good deal. Thank you.
Thank you. It costs me 7,015 GBP including commissions. Because of this price, no crown, winding stem and pusher cap are ok to me. I expect the movement is not worked as well.
I don’t intend to sound offensive at all, but why do you feel the need to ask? This forum section is called “vintage Omega help, discussion and advice”. I recently posted about a watch I purchased and had questions about. Some members helped me out. Others found the need to berate me as to why I didn’t ask the questions before I bought it. Is this necessary? Those types of responses are not helpful, don’t advance the discussion, and certainly are not advice. Why make people feel like they screwed up and are fools for asking questions? How about we either provide that help and advice or just scroll by? I used to love to read this forum, but not so much anymore.
To some of the Op's questions, the luminous plots look original to me and the #6 end links are genuine. Case not overly polished IMO and the big dent is most likely from the case opener holder. I think this will clean up nicely.
