Good evening, I am a newly trained watch dealer with more speciality within the like of Rolex, AP etc however i am always attempting to broaden my scope. I received this email from a client who wished to sell their Vintage SpeedMaster Omega (As seen in pictures) I know the general history of the watch being produced for only a short period of time etc however I also understand that vintage watches are often tempered with.

I was wondering if anyone could help me assess the watch and perhaps also give a me guide to its current value

The client has the original sales receipt as seen in the photos.

MANY THANKS TO ANYONE THAT CAN HELP!

    Harrison

    Hi Harrison-

Your best bet for tons of information and things to look for is here : http://speedmaster101.com/105.002/

There is also a price guide to help with assessing value. Also, if you'd like to resell it here, let me be first in line! DIBS! :)

Looks like a nice example (will need clearer photos to confirm especially regarding dial condition) with a few replaced parts (like seconds hand and crown) but the important pieces are intact - dial, hour and minute hands, bezel and #6 endlinks.

Value I would say in the neighborhood of $10k USD.

How much is the client asking for? Can you tell him to come to the forum as well?

(im attempting to get better photos regarding dial etc now)

The client claims to have been offered 11k£ but has seemingly run into cash flow issues and is asking for 11K Euros, which still appears to be a little in the deep end as im looking to get a return on the watch and cant afford to be collecting anything just yet.

Does this price should realistic for lets say an auction in London? and although the client has kept the original sales receipt which is a plus he appears to not have the watches papers does this damage your estimation?

Another question regarding the hands i notice the triangular center is unusual and most alpha hands have a rectangular center is this due to the fact they have been replace, or linked to a specific date? and i can't seem to find it on any 105.002's anywhere

Been plunged into the deep end of vintage omegas & trying to swim.. thanks for swift response btw, much appreciated.

www.speedmaster101.com has price information as well. I'd have to see a better scan of dial and case to like it at that price :)

More pics would be helpful. Is the watch functioning ok? I would want to know if the chrono is functioning and resets.

Sounds like you have some negotiating power since he really needs to sell it. That helps.

It seems like OP is aiming at selling the watch before he has bought it. Securing his margin in advance. I doubt that he, if he can't trade with it, will let someone here step in and take his place as a buyer

Ah, so the OP intends on buying this from the seller in order to resell it?

@OP, if you're going to be a dealer, you are going to need to practice your photo skills.

Not a bad looking watch, but I'd certainly need better pics before buying.

Can you share the movement number? Or at least the first five digits? xx,xxx, should be in 19m range, maybe 20,52x range for a 105.002.

Thanks for the adv, it's hard the photos are coming directly from the client not myself. He seems to b a fairly elderly man as seen by his photos skills. The movement number should be located on the inner case? Or on the movement itself? Thanks ones again

I'm slightly confused here. Are you a dealer or someone who's been given the opportunity to buy a watch and you want to flip it?

Seems slightly strange to be asking a forum of potential buyers how much you should pay for a watch. Arent the main aspects of being a dealer knowing your items and your market?
