How many expanding links should a full 1039 bracelet come with? Is it 5 on one side and 3 on the other?

    Thanks!

I believe that there are 9 total stretch links on a 1039 bracelet.

+1. 9 stretch links is the longest I've seen, and I have virtually-untouched examples with that number.

Isn't it 10? Six on one side and 4 on the other?

I'm not an expert, but I'd be willing to bet with @abrod520 saying its 9, then its 9.

    I'm 99% certain it's ten.

I had a 7912, not 1039 that was true NOS, never worn from new wrapped up since new and I'm pretty sure it was 10, I'll try to find the pics later.

7912 indeed has 10 when fully linked.

@sky21 I love 'em, but am by no real means an expert! ;)

If the 7912 is certainly 10, then there's a good chance the 1039 is too. I just haven't seen any longer than 9, even in cases where I'm fairly sure it hasn't been altered since purchase - but they're 50 years old, so anything's possible!

More of an expert than me, that's for sure. Plus I figured since you've had so many of them you would have seen one with 10 by now. Oh well.

Might have to conduct a recount ::book:: The closest-to-original one I have is on a 145.022-71 currently in service though so I'll have to wait a bit to see that one

Ouch, that's gonna be a tough find I'm afraid. Especially considering the going rate of the 1039 has basically doubled since last year.

Am struggling to figure out who would wear with the full 10 links? Which kind of explains why most I see always have less.

A bit like odd socks right.......where do they all go

I wear my 1506 with all 10 links but as you can see the clasp is about on the tightest setting. People may have removed theirs as they stretched out.
The missing socks are always the left of the pair.

Just for reference, a full factory spec 1039 has 4 sprung + 8 links on the clasp side, and 6 sprung + 8 links on the non-clasp side. Like this one, dated 3/69:

Checked two of mine and they're 6 + 3 so mine are a touch "short" - others are attached to watches currently in service so won't be able to confirm
