i am looking at something with this movement and have read that there is little love for this. Omega apparently produced it cheaply with some sub-par parts to earlier movements and there have been purportedly a few issues.
I'm obviously not an expert and would appreciate any thoughts if you have a moment.
    Thank you.
    Mark.

Point is that often for the same price you can get a 55x/56x/75x... With swan neck regulator instead of a paperclip like in the 100x movements... ;)

Also the watches from the 70ies are often quite funky looking... So often they have little working for them (comparatively speaking) neither from the inside not from the outside

I think there are some stonking looking Geneves with the 1012. My first vintage Omega was a stainless case Geneve with a 10xx movement and I still have it. Classic styling, nice size and unfussy.

All the 1012's I've seen remind me of the 70's..... avocado green appliances and orange shag carpeting. Yeah baby!

Thanks....useful to know. I hear some tout that it was O's last 'in house" before the ETA influence.

The one I'm looking at is a 1973 Seamaster....looks very clean with lovely dial and lugs. Definately cleaned up and not cheap, but so tempting! Thank you.

If serviced properly they can be very accurate. Yes some parts are certainly not pretty, and some things on the dial side can be a bit on the fragile side, but a proper service is the key to keeping it running well. If you decide to take the leap, factor that into the pricing equation.

    Cheers, Al

Thanks Al. It's priced at £725 which is probably a little dear but certainly looks very attractive and in good condition. Purportedly serviced, but we all know what that can mean!
