Hey everyone,

as a fond lover of the reference 101.010 i have always been interested in the nearing of the total production numbers of this reference. As far as i know this it has been produced from 1963 to 1966 only to be continued by the later reference of the De Ville series (141.010) which ultimately went into the early Speedy (correct me if i am wrong). Here a am only interested in the production period of the 101.010 though. Now, there seems to be quite a bit of variance on how many pieces were actually produced in that period of time as Omega does not release production numbers on their n(or maybe just this) vintage watches. Let alone on a relatively niche segment as the 101.010.

Years ago the word was Omega produced roughly 20.000 (steel, yellow and rose gold combined) of these but since then a few people doubt it was actually that many. Even though this reference was released between 63 and 66 the effective production period was likely to have been only 1 to 2 years. Further Omega had to prioritize production capabilities of other references (Seamaster chrono ond of course others) over this "mere" dress chronograph.

Worldwide and of course online there are only of few dozen of documented sales of this watch. As far as i am informed there are no indications of big connected serial numbers either as the cal 321 was used in other watches. Voices are heard that this reference (-63 and -65 included) was produced in no larger scale than less than 5.000 pieces and even quieter but none the less rational: around 2.000-3.000 pieces. That would also explain why there are so little in the market. Of course they are collectors pieces and probably many keep them to themselves, but they seem so rare theses days, that i have come to believe that the 2 to 3 thousand theory could be right.

But!

of course i have no proof 😉 What do you think? Or maybe know? There must be numbers about this somewhere. And i know for a fact that Omega isn't sharing them. Sorry if this bores you, or if there is a post about this topic already... i would be very interested to find out or atleast narrow down an estimate.

Thanks in advance for your potential help.
