·...And a dozen or so watches bought. Thanks to the OF community and the many of you I have chatted with over the past three years. I was once a true noob (in terms of understanding vintage Omega) and now consider myself an apprentice of sorts that is still learning.
Below are an assortment of some of my favorites and current projects that have a story behind them:
Vulcain Cricket circa 1950s. This one I got oddly enough through Facebook marketplace. The guy who I purchased it off of told me he was liquidating some of his grandfather's collection. All vintage from Rolex to Vulcain and beyond. Oddly enough the dude was wearing Invicta 😲
Next my dad's Constellation. He got this from his aunt. The one that got me especially interested in Omega. I always loved the observatory when I was younger.
My own Seamaster. Bought for a graduation gift for myself. Do I love it? Yes. Would I possibly go back in time to tell myself to get something in stainless steel? Maybe.
My Zodiac Olympos. Bought on eBay courtesy of @JwRosenthal on the recommended thread during the 2020 lockdown. Lots of wrist cheese but now a total keeper.
My Omega trench. I studied history during college and extensively on the Great War. Finding something from that era was always on my list and I love the lugs.
A Seiko Speedtimer courtesy of @Toishome. One of my goals is to go back to Japan and look for vintage Seiko. This scratched that itch for the time being.
And now a few recent purchases projects. First, this waffle dial Tissot. I'm in love with that script. Second, another Tissot with cat-ear lugs as @Vitezi called it. I'm sure he'll know more than me on it. And lastly, this Seamaster 2846 with a caliber 501. This one is heading straight to my watchmaker.
As one of the younger members of this forum I am happy to say I'll continue to be a future custodian to vintage timepieces. The hobby ain't dead yet! Cheers.
