(Further to my post in the thread 'Face that goes with the Name', created by @watchyouwant,) I am pleased to share with the forum the news that I got married (for the 3rd time) on Thursday the 21st of December 2017. I've been blessed with some wonderful women in my 60 years and the theme continues with my lovely new wife Kety. We had a very simple legal ceremony in the UK followed by a small reception. The celebrations will continue later in 2018, with a traditional wedding reception, with the wife's family, Peru. Sounds exciting but it's 11,000ft up in the 'fakkin' Andes! That being the case, I won't be taking my Dad's 105.012-65 and I wont be jumping about too much on the dance floor as I'm a bit worried about the lack of oxygen. (Wonder what they done with that 'fakkin' oxygen tent that Michael Jackson used to 'kip' in??? Could do with that in Peru.) Sadly it's not all happy days. My dear old Mum passed away last week and so our New Year will begin with Mum's funeral. I was, however, very pleased that my new wife managed to meet my Mum 3 days before she died.
+1 on congrats and condolences. Corfe, 'fakkin' love that place. I would take the '65 to Peru. It's nearer to the Moon. Hope see you again in '18. Best wishes, N.
Talk about a bitter-sweet week. Corfe brings back fond memories for me as I used to live along the the road in Winfrith. A magical place to have a wedding reception. Congratulations on your wedding on heartfelt condolences on the loss of your mum. (And lovin’ your usual irreverent take on life)
my condolences as well. i have been there....... and you do not have to take your 105.012-65 to Peru. they have plenty. they are on ebay all the time..... kind regards. achim
What a traumatic end to 2017 for you! We've never met but I always enjoy your posts so my thoughts are with you. As Achim says, you'll be able to pick up a few speedmasters in Peru - there seems to be no shortage of them down there.... All the best Gordon
Very sorry to hear your latest news,… my own Father passed two years ago, with similar timing Chin up Jonathan ! ,…You will get through it, …and eventually move on to better things, with your new partner Take care of yourself !
Sorry to hear of your loss, though at least your wife and mother were able to meet before she passed.
Simultaneously 'congrats, wish you many years of peruvian joy' and 'that's fakkin awful mate, terribly sorry for your loss' I have a very good friend from Peru...she's not so good on ski's (but that don't stop her), looks great in a dress (and a bikini, and jeans / pullover), really knows how to dance, makes very tasty food, always brings back funny green leaves (that kick like a donkey when chewed), speaks Spanish like an Uzi pumps out lead, is warm and friendly and highly sociable ... in short : she's awesome Now I wonder what the new missus told Mum...
That's what some would call a week, I wish you many good days to come and a happy marriage, may you have comfort in your time of emotional need, the post is sad but interesting thank you for sharing.
A new chapter begins and a life story ends ... congrats and condolences ... lost my mom this last September... still keep expecting that phone to ring on Sunday nights. Lost Dad on Jan 2 2010 .. even rougher during holidays .. thoughts are with you and yours.
Thankyou @oddboy . Being a good Irish woman, my Mum was never too keen on her daughters-in-law and always knew how to disrupt a wedding.
Thankyou Neil. @neilfrancis. Hmmm... still not sure about taking Dad's old Speedy on a bus ride across Peru??? Can an Omega Speedmaster 105.012 cope with the altitude and lack of oxygen?... and have you seen the state of the mountain roads and those buses that run between Lima and the Andes??? My Dad would go Fakkin bananas!
Thankyou @watchyouwant! Trouble is if I leave it with my daughter in the UK she will have it on ebay before I reach Peru!
