This thing is amazing - probably the first major innovation accuracy wise in quartz since the 1970s. While there have been many different HAQ (High accuracy quartz) watches, none of them approach this level of accuracy to my knowledge - the previous best has always been around 5 seconds a year.

When my son was born I decided I needed a watch where I knew what the time was for sure, but I wanted a three hander that was solar powered, Atomic clock radio synced, and no "world time" bezel. This was surprisingly difficult to find for a reasonable price. In the end I picked up two discontinued Casio Oceanus watches - these were made for the American market, but Oceanus didn't do so well over here, as they retailed for around $500 new. Spec wise though they are great - titanium case and bracelet, sapphire crystal, white LED illumination, etc. I wear the blue one on a bracelet probably 80% of the time.

I hope they continue production into some sports/tool models.

Considering Casio, I'm tempted by the often overlooked Lineage range. It seems to sit mid-way between the classic octagonal digitals and the likes of the Oceanus. For example:-

It’s an incredibly piece. Look at us lusting over a quartz watch. I had the G Seiko 9F special edition in hand last April. Had Mrs S not been there, I’d own it. Finish on the Citizen and the Seiko is just sick.

Who writes the stuff on the website?

"Every second marked by this watch is like a single line of poetry.
There you can discover time in all its profundity: the moment and the eternal; the rigour that forbids even a second’s deviation; a clear borderline between past, present and future; and quality like a finely polished crystal."

"The expression of this watch is one of extreme simplicity: Simplicity that reflects the mechanism’s intention to mark the individual seconds in all their perfect purity."
