I think it is a term of endearment. Your UG loves you back.

 

Ranfft lists HON as a US import code for UG.

I am by no means an expert but I think the codes relate to importers rather than manufacturers. The import code for Henri Stern was HOX, which I think is why you see HOX on some UG movements.

Are you saying that there is no import code at all? So no UOW, HON, HOX or any other mark?

Here is an article in which the author concludes that import codes were first required in around 1930.
