No bezel plus buyers premium £18,000!!!

 

Ludicrous. Crown appears incorrect as well.

On the other hand, the estimate was superb.

 

A dive watch with missing (and unobtanium) bezel? I think they accidentally added a couple of zeros to the hammer price.

See the lot above it too. Looks like a painting with a £100-200 estimate that hammered at 12k. Someone doesn’t know what they’re doing, but I have no idea if it’s the valuer or the buyers.

 

And the bezel will make it worth $23,000?

 

With auction fees the buyer’s already into it for around $31,000.

 

What the hell am I missing here ?

I watched this auction thinking I could get it, and then it went nuts!
Afterwards the auctioneer said, a local man had come to him with it, saying he'd bought it at a car boot sale for £100.
Looks like he did quite well out of it.
