Lost at Sea...7 months Later Seiko Returned!

I sold a Seiko and shipped it to a member Down Under on January 4th...it never arrived.

USPS said it was out of their control, that it made it to Australia and that is all they knew.

Australian Post has no record of it.

The member and I shared in the misfortune, and I refunded half the payment.

I kept the customs number in my USPS App, and low and behold it came active last week! It went from LA to NC...and then to NJ.

At this point I thought it was an error...BUT...it arrived today! 7.5 months later...

Now...do we risk shipping again?

Just had to share...no clue what happened with this one.

Frustration and relief in one package! Good luck with your next step, whatever you decide to do. Maybe a service that offers end-to-end tracking would be less nerve-wracking than the regular post, but probably some of our Aussie members will have more practical advice.

Some USPS distribution centers are like black holes in space. They suck packages in and you never know when (or if) your stuff will come out. These centers have no phone number. Local postmasters can't even get in touch with them. I had an AP 15400 enter one near Richmond Virginia, it was rated the 2nd worst distribution center in the US at that time (2014). It was scanned in, and then disappeared for 4 days until it showed up at my home.

This thread is starting to get me paranoid about a watch I have going to the U.K. And I can't find the receipt with the tracking number at the moment. 😵‍💫

As long as your package doesn't pass through Italy, you'll be fine.

In my humble opinion this is a sign that the watch should stay with you. Don't ever sell it again. Everything happens for a reason. However do give the poor guys money back 😁

Simple, sell it to me. I'll send you all of the funds, you can return the remaining half to previous buyer... 😁

Great story!

USPS have a watch of mine in their system which shows as being 'in transit' as it has been since 7 June.

Threads like this give me hope that it may pop up again. I wont hold my breath... 🙁

It's worrying! I paid for Royal Mail signed for shipment to Australia a month ago, each time I went onto tracking there was no evidence of the item being received. Then last week I noticed that I had positive feedback on eBay from the Buyer, saying all was great! The concern for me is the that if foreign postal services aren't recording a signature then a dishonest buyer could deny ever receiving the goods! Luckily my buyer was a good one!

Happened to me once with a watch that was shipped from Sweden. I think it sat in that status for around 6 weeks before finally updating that it came through New York. There's still hope!
