When new releases don’t get your pulse racing….

There’s something always fun as a watch hobbyist when the new releases finally drop during a particular year.

But when they don’t float your boat, are you more disappointed…or relived that you don’t have an itch that needs to be scratched?

For me: This year’s group leave me underwhelmed. So, 70% happy I’m saving money, 30% wishing there was something I had a mad hankering for. You?

I really like the 2 new Seamasters.. 300 and 300m. If i did already have a blue 300m, i would be down with buying one

@M'Bob

I thinks that's a good way to look at things. Finding myself in the same boat. Sure, there are pieces I've wanted for a long time and still want, but the lack of anything that really shook up my want list just allows me to keep reaching for the aforementioned long-time desires.

I'm not crazy enough to burn cash on the still-inflated GMT II prices (though, I want one).

Thought maybe the Accutron Astronaut reissue would be fun, but the more I looked at it, the less I cared for the lugs.

I prefer the prior iteration of the Navitimer, so no risk of spending on one of those anytime soon. At least, in so far as that I don't want one badly enough to go through the process of finding one.

Then I thought: perhaps an IWC chronograph. But, my flieger is just as eye-catching and a well-trusted companion. The IWC would realistically end up riding the watch box more than my wrist.

I thought: maybe some of the "micro brands" have something to scratch the itch. Didn't find anything there either.

I know! How about a Nomos?!....or I could have a well drilled at my place and the pressure tank replaced at my parents place.

Is this what adulthood really is? Just a bunch of: "I could do this or that... it'd be awesome. But I'll just do this safe thing instead." 😜

I concur. Such a lovely watch. I wish I had a broad enough wrist to wear it and not look funny...

I could but I already own a Grand Duo and I’m retired. So there will be no 20k watch expenditures

The only Omega releases in the last years, which got my attention was the

60th Anniversary Trilogy line
321 Speedmaster in steel

These 4 watches are nearly exact remakes of their watches from 50s and 60s. I dont expect anything from new releases in general.

The SMP looks interesting and I'll go look at it in person. If I hadn't bought my green one last year, it looks like a different enough blue that I might've considered it. I'm okay with not really loving any of the new ones.

For me it was an early 2023 announcement of the H. Moser Endeavour Center Seconds Vantablack

The Reverso Chronograph is nice but even that's a warmed over version of one they did in 1996, a 500 pc edition in rose gold in the Grande Taille case which was really a sweet watch. I had one and sold it, one of those watches I should have kept.

Not that I'm in the market for anything, I did expect something special from Omega for their 75th Seamaster anniversary. The fact that they can only come up with a new color is really disappointing. Makes me think of that other brand that never does something innovative or daring...

Apparently the new Ploprof goes back to its roots but that model is so niche that I guess it won't get interest from many people.

Since 2020 (?) I follow the infos from sherpawatches. Actually I see no new watch rise my blood-pressure.

https://sherpawatches.com/

Maybe I have to wait another year, to see a new Sherpa DIVER in this classic design - without date. I would probably be tempted then.....

I’d never have let that one go. The new one is a very different vibe IMO.

Maybe it's because I'm not in the market for any new watches that not much gets my pulse racing. Most things that fall into that category are way, way beyond my means or rare vintage stuff some of you guys post 😀. I do still get excited about pretty much any clean C-case Constellation or anything vintage with a cool colorful racing dial. Oh, and those thin vintage skin divers. I want one of those.

I still love to see the new stuff coming out though regardless of what it is. The new dials from Omega look nice but aren't very exciting. I guess it's hard to blow the doors down when most watch stuff is small iterative changes. Omega should take my unsolicited biased advice and redesign the Constellation. That would be a big announcement and may be the hill I end up dying on here.
