Dear forum memers I'm a newbie here and I would appreciate your expert advice on an omega vintage that I consider purchasing online. It's a pretty cheap one but I don't want to buy something totally worthless.. maybe you can tell me if the price is justified.. Here is the (little) information and pics on the piece: - diameter around 40mm - hand-wound - "watch is working" - strap not from omega The price is 290$. I like the watch because it looks kind of unusuall and has a larger diameter than the ones from the 60s/70s. To me, the caliber looks like a Omega 18SPB from around 1920. What do you think about this pice? Is it worth the price? Thanks a lot for any hints and advice!
I think it is a franken watch, meaning somebody took parts from different watches (or probably create few new ones) and put it together. Collectors usually avoid them.
Thanks, thats already good to know But which parts do you think are original? In the sense that they are made by omega. Is the movement real for example?
Hands are original Omega for sure. One of their trademark looks. Dial is probably original to the movement. The case is a concoction. Seller wouldn't happen to be from Ukraine, would they? gatorcpa
Switzerland, strangely enough, seems to be one of the worst countries for vintage Omega. I have seen several absolute horrors from the Swiss eBay sellers, often redials, almost always way overpriced.
