I've been asked to sell the watch below on behalf of the family of the original owner. This is a less common Rolex pocket style watch with original bakelite case. The watch has sat, unused, for some decades until it received a full service this month. The mainspring and hairspring have both been replaced while everything else is original. There are no cracks or hairlines in the dial, though there are a few age related marks. Hands are original. It goes without saying that nothing has been polished. The watch is perfectly straight on the timeograph and is currently running just a few seconds a day slow. Dial, case and the 546 movement are all signed. The case is a rare survivor, this being used to attach the watch to the communications (radio) set. This watch was issued to the current owner's great-grandfather who was in the British Army and also seconded at one point to the RAF. Frankly, the photographs speak for themselves so I'll move straight on to those: It goes without saying that any questions are welcome and if further photographs are required I will supply the same. Asking price is £1350.00 including insured delivery. Thanks for looking and, OF, thanks for the space.
Not my area but looks very nice. Sure you are acquainted with MWR and I am sure you would find a lot of interest over there
It is a gorgeous example of what it is. I'm not a member of MWR but if it gains no interest where I have posted it, then I'll see about listing it there.
Wow, that is a great little piece!! Fully agree with Alpha, if it doesn't move here, it will fly on MWR!
Thanks - might just be too specialised a piece to appeal here but there are a few fora that I am a member of and I always like to offer things like this "to the family" before anyone else.
Well, I'm heading overseas next week and would like to get it moved ... so what price would tempt you more?
We can still make it work... http://wornandwound.com/library/uploads/2015/02/glenn.jpg http://wornandwound.com/library/uploads/2015/02/2915a.jpg
Mods, A watch belonging to someone other that the poster being offered for sale. I thought that was a big NO NO.
Not the first sale I see “for a friend” as long as the seller takes responsibility for the item what’s the issue?
Back in the UK and this watch is still looking for a new owner - bump and a price reduction to £1350.00
