Just back from the spa with a new crystal - still need lots of work, at least it now tells the time accurately!
A long time since this one has seen the light of day - A rare occasion when I actually do like an engraving, just an old softy at heart
C-Shape Connie today. Cal 1021 makes it one of the last "proper" Omega Chronometers before the dark ages.......
Funny... I procrastinate clothes buying for months - even years - but I can buy a watch with two seconds notice... I am really not into clothes at all and buying them is close to torture. But every second year I have to do it and at that point I will buy everything at once - and lots of it. Rather buy a lot at once than torture often. Accordingly I also tend to go for timeless classics and old time high quality - it prolongs the period until next torture while at the same time not being totally off fashion wise... (I am a 50 year old white guy built like a tank - so no one expects much)
Please, pleeeeeeeease do not change anything having to do with dial and hands! That is pure beauty! I am normally not that much for patina but that piece is just beautiful.
New arrival from the lowlands of Scotland. Just love this dial! Confirmed information about movement, love when a watch has a little mystery! From Ranfft... PUW 60 On ebay almost all PUW 60s are chronometers (a striking success of my movement archive). This one is none, but it has the capability: 1955 the PUW 60 was regarded as the only German movement with chronometer capability. Probably the reason was that the movements were tested by the traditionally responsible Deutsche Hydrographische Institut Hamburg, while Junghans chronometers were tested by the PTB in Braunschweig. ...solid movement in this ol' girl!
You can't see it on the picture...but Exposure settings measured with my speedster. Frostbite complements of mother nature.
I think I found the right strap for this one. Olive cordura seems the right touch of military feel to it.
Pretty much all year long ballons fly from Del Mar and end up landing right in my neighborhood, frequently flying right over the house close enough you can chat with the occupants - my dog is the only one who doesn't like it: This is my daughter standing on the roof, no photo trickery just depth of field:
