That's a very nice waffle. I have the same watch with a cream (non-waffle dial.)

Beater 5513 doing tool duty. Later it got some bathing time (very short - only 16 Celsius in the water out at sea)

Got an Abu Garcia myself - custom geared for long distance casting so the worm gear doesn't blow up on one of those 100+ yard heaves. That was necessary on a 12 foot casting rod. How do you like yours on the 7 footer (estimate)?

Yeah, there's a little brown coming through in bright sunlight. Eggplant is probably fair.

UPDATE: I just had an interaction with a very attractive 30-something woman who couldn't take her eyes off this watch. It was almost embarrassing. Her exact words: "That watch is beautiful and the bracelet is amazing." That sort of thing has rarely happened with any of my other watches... well, except for the JLC seen above.;) I tell you, there's magic in that Marvin, boys. If only I'd had this to set the mood when I was single... it's like the Marvin Gaye of watches.
N.B.: Here's the thing - when she says, bless her heart, "is that a Rolex?", you gotta chuckle suavely and say no, today's a special day, so I wore my Mar-VAN. Very important to pronounce it à la Francaise.

When a woman compliments your watch, she really isn't talking about the watch at all. ;)

Thank you sir! I love the patina on this, it gives the watch so much character. One of my favorite purchases of anything, ever. :D

Tremendous watch. One does not simply shake off something that bumps back.

A night of power outages - we used to call them cuts - so much rain animals were in pairs and even more of the same forecast today.
Something a little more rugged on the wrist called for

Alex, are you a Frank Bridge fan? He was Benjamin Britten's mentor.

Hi Adam, I adore Frank Bridge. I have recorded and sung his songs. Also Britten is a big favourite. Just getting into his darker work, Peter Grimes with Jon Vickers as Grimes.
