Which way does your moon phase disc go? Comparing: Patek, Omega, Universal, Valjoux, Zenith, etc.

    This thread got me thinking.

I've never owned a Patek, but apparently their moonphase discs start on the right and rotate counter clockwise. (Per their directions: here)

My Universal Geneve Tri-Compax moonphase disc(s), comprising calibres 281, 481, and 287 rotate clockwise so that the new moon appears on the left and ends on the right.

I believe my Valjoux 89 based movement rotates in the clockwise fashion as well.

Which way does your watch's moonphase disc go? Please note the brand of watch and the specific calibre in your post. Bonus points for pictures!

Before you start clicking it forward, be careful to observe your manufacture's directions. Most watches have restricted hours where you should not adjust the day/date/moonphase between certain hours.

My Omega cal. 381 ref. 2606 and (new) JLC Master Calendar cal. 866 both advance clockwise.

False, at least as far as the PP cal 324 S QR is concerned (and I suspect all the others, but I've been fondling that one lately). I see what you are reading, but play with the little moonphase display on the right of that page and you will see it goes clockwise like everyone else's.

Interesting. Looks like the folks that put together the copy for Patek's website have never handled one either.

    Here's a gratuitous shot of a ref. 5496P with the calibre 324 S QR:

I think I'd like to fondle one of those, too.

this was the particular incarnation I was fogging up. Curiously, it does not appear to be much loved by the hardcore PP crowd. Too much going on I suppose.

I'd be happy to show it a little love; just send it my way and I can find a warm and cozy place for it here.

I'll do a family shot when everyone reports home from the various watchmakers and parts suppliers. Over half the stable is currently out, with some requiring protracted searches for original parts.
