D - You're not likely there but here's some sage words .... Sell Mortimer, Sell !!!! Well, something like that. Get rid of that debt. Kick start marriage as close to debt freedom. As is possible. You can't lose.

I'm not a fan of debt, it can be a terrible source of anxiety. Plus debt and marriage don't always mix well together. My advice is if you could put a big dent in your debt by selling some watches, I would do it. Start with a few, the ones you can most easily part with, then give it some time to see how you feel. If there's not much regret, sell a few more otherwise you stop knowing there's not much damage to your collection. It seems to me there's no shortage of members here who would be willing buyers.

Just my 2 cents as a noob.

I just sold 7 pieces that weren't being worn. And think I'm doing good because so far only bought 2 pieces and used the rest for family. One of those may or may not have been purchased after social libations ;)

Hahah. I live about ten minutes away from King of Prussia Mall and I love that movie. The pawn guy is Bo Didley. Hilarious.

Well, in Philadelphia my VC is worth more than fifty bucks. :p

Common sense is creeping in and edging out the insanity of this hobby. I'm actually taking a good look at what's around not getting worn.

I had to sell my 2500c PO to cover a bill. It really sucked because I wanted to sell the PO to buy a new watch. Now, I only have my 2254 for a daily wearer and a Swatch Ruben for when the 2254 goes to OMEGA. Now, every time I am close to getting a no-date Submariner, something stops it from becoming mine. :(

The Money Gods perpetuate your financial status. Just when you think you're going to get ahead, they slap you with something that sets you even further back. :cautious: I have yet to figure out what kind of sacrifice they like as I'm in a similar boat as you James.

..... or to be more accurate, a similar dinghy. :(

I am a collector of ......STUFF.
I started with Hotwheels......yeah, I know, hard to think. I still own 102 vintage with some still in packs from 1968/1969. I sold off over 500 years ago to cover a career change.
I collect Motorcycles and have ONLY four now. Again, sold off to , well, live after D.
I collect what I like that is old. And have sold off as space closes in on me.
I still have some of all things that I LIKE, and still have been able to cover all other things that I move on to.
I would say yes for what YOU think is important to you. And don't have a second thought to keep what will make you happy 2-4-10 years from now.

I had a mad Hot Wheels collection totalling close to 500 cars in pristine condition. I decided to give away about half, sold a few of the more limited models, kept about 100 for myself (which I still have), and the rest went to my son.

He and I play with some of them on the HW tracks I bought him. From time to time I will buy one. I like HW and Kyosho mostly.

Here are several of my favorites.

Cool cars. My collection is more to the first years of "Hotwheels". 1968-1974. Beach Bomb (5 MIP) , Cord (3 mint inpack with Pink and Magenta and Green). It blows my mind what I sold 12 years or so ago would sell for now!!!!
But, the Career change more than paid for it in the first year!
