Hello everyone, I have often seen different Omega watches touting the De Ville trademark but I am interested in knowing what De Ville actually means. I always keep an eye out for one of my favorite watches which is the Omega Seamaster De Ville and it has got me thinking as to what exactly is De Ville signifying. I saw an article that explained the meaning behind the Seamaster Cosmic but I have not found similar information about De Ville.
De Ville is also a quite common French surname. But I'd suggest a rather cosmopolitan view - an elegant watch to wear in town for daily use, against the sport lines of the same House - like Speedmasters, originally for car races, or Seamasters.
I would never dare...! No, I was just meaning that probably Omega created an "elegant", city-inspired line together with the sport ones.
