I know it's been mentioned here before, as subject of another auction, before it went on ebay, but can that be the value (even for the condition) ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271644516686?ssPageName=STRK:MESINDXX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1436.l2649Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
I thought it sold very dear. Thought the high water mark would be < US$2500. Obviously way off, as there were quite a few bids well beyond that level.
I thought price was too high but that's what happens sometimes when the condition is unusually nice as is the case with this watch. The seller is a member here - michael e who has managed to get very good prices for the nice omegas he sells. I have always been of the opinion that vintage omegas in exceptionally nice condition don't fetch the premium they deserve but once in a while you get a sale like this that goes against the grain.
Well I was not the buyer, but I have to say that I suspect this is the way the market is heading. Very high prices for exceptional things. With the second best far far less valuable.
Complements to michael e, and to the buyer; sure i remember seeing some of his very nice watches. Still, i'm sure the score on this one has well overcome even the wildest estimation, maybe even Michael's. Should this be the trend ? While on the forum these seem to get lots of attention, most of the vintage catalog prices don't even include cal. 30 family pieces, so i'm sure this could be the kind of statement that they are still undervalued... and ignored.
Omega being undervalued by the Omega forum I must admit I was surprised at the price but when the question is asked "will I find another like this?" I think the answer will be no. The sale has not been completed yet either so the price is not the price until the buyer pays and he is happy. Thanks Mick
Nice vintage Omgas like Mike's example fetch higher price due to all our work here, in part, plus you gotta admit.....its a looker. Ppl move to the good looking examples ( more so if deemed special / unique rare ) and are more willing to pay up. When I sold my simple 145.012 I struggled to price it a la Dennis for OF members while realizing the general uptick in Vintage Speedys in good shape. My 2 cents ...
LoL. Sure 'bout dat? How many PMs so far Im all hocked but would surely Dibs U if I could!!! LoL Love this OF.
The one on the bay is nice, the price does reflect how hard it is to find something so complete. Unless there was shill bidding. I feel it is slight overpriced.
