Funny..when I got my recent SMP, a friend's wife asked right away "...is that Rolly??" (seriously, is this the nickname for Rolexes?? ) and I said 'No...actually it's an Omega Seamaster Pro', to which she replied, yeah Rolexes are expensive. Without blinking an eye I replied, I looked at the Rolexes...but I didn't want to look like I inherited my grandfather's watch. I chose the Omega."

To me..Omega is modern for the descerning modern man. Rolex is too 'last generation' to me.

As to the topic. Wear it loud, wear it proud!

Reminds me of riding with my brother in his Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce and hearing a girl say "nice Porsche." His response was "thanks," which is the correct answer if you're using the car to pick up girls, as he was in fact doing. Next thing you know I'm walking home.

I say buy what makes you happy after all it's your money.

However, I totally agree with Cicindela's comment below.

If you work with criminals, believe me, they notice. With my sub, when asked the ubiquitous, Hey is that a Rolex?, I would reply, no it's wrist watch, or when asked about cost that it was a gift.

There have always been those with more or less, but now it's more "correct" to not enjoy what you want, because someone else can't, it seems.
- Sad but true due to today's societal trends of political correctness (Socialism/Communism are in vogue); as a result you are made to feel guilty for crimes against humanity which you may not be even aware of.

For the record, a non-watch relative of sorts once commented on a former watch, IWC Mark XVI on how good the polishing, craftsmanship & then he proceeded to ask how many thousands did it set me back, Point here is people know quality when they see it, know one is stupid. A Mark XVI is the most under the radar watch you can buy in my opinion.

Now that being said, have you ever considered the IWC Portuguese, they are stunning - I don't own one because, I have no need to get dress up for work or else I would. Once again buy what you want! And Enjoy!

Cheers,

Enezdez
