Al Because I only ever read the Vintage forum I missed this thread. You can probably tell from the sheer number of replies and good wishes just how well you are regarded by the community here. May I just add my own wishes for a very speedy recovery and the hope that you will shortly be back amongst us, if not at work then at least with your inimitable and fascinating insights into the world of watchmaking. You did make the remark the other day that the biggest hazard of watchmaking was that it is a sedentary occupation . . . Get well soon!
I just discover this thread, I wish you a prompt and complete recovery. Good luck for the next steps.
Al is amazing. He emailed me the other day from the hospital' whichci something he did notnhave to do. So all I can say is get well, Al. You are in my prayers.
Worst part of stints is having to lay absolutely STILL for 30 min after they take the catheter out of your femoral artery. But do it, you don't want a bleed. Ask me how I know. If you end up having a bypass (a future problem if ever for you) demand that they do not use the heart/lung machine, find a surgeon who will operate while your heart is beating. (New vs. old tech.) My two cents. SO glad you got a milder warning for your heart conditions. Your life will change for the better now. We should go through this shit at 18 instead of 45 so we would appreciate our health while it's at it's peak. Smart ass 18-year-olds.
Al, very sorry to hear this and you are in my thoughts and prayers, good luck today...please take the time to heal completely, you owe yourself this!
Well I'm done. 2 more stents in and blood flow is good. Hopefully home tomorrow. by the way both trips to the cath lab they did everything through the radial artery, so no laying still required. Cheers, Al
