1) LBJ is no JFK 2) I'm a watch collector, as are most here - not memorabilia collectors. Frankly it's not something I would want precisely because it was owned by a President. I just want the watch in mint condition without the extreme provenance tax.
Hmmm, didn't consider it. Not that I'm an LBJ fan or hater, just that it has real provenance and I can't say what that would be worth to a collector of Presidential items.
here's one that's pretty high. I know these 6236 can go high, must be a rare rare iteratio0n http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rolex-Steel...908441351?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item4d0bae1b07Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
The caseback worth 30 times than the rest of the watch. Just curious do White House has official watches for their members (palace watch) or special guests? What are they? Hamilton? Bulova? I believe it should be made in US right? I know Saudi uses Omega, Oman Rolex, Jordan Omega and Iraq Patek. Indonesia uses non brand watch.

...and the Kennedys weren't fond of him either. But LBJ delivered Texas in the 1960 election, which may have made the difference in who was elected president. That watch has been kicking around the forums for many years. I was always curious as to the value and would never have expected it to show up on eBay. Assuming all the provenance checks out, the seller would be better off with one of the large auction houses, even with their sky-high fees. I suspect it will end up there unless they get a taker on the 'Bay. gatorcpa
Actually I think it was the Chicago machine in the River Wards that put him over the top. The returns from these wards were, shall we say, very late. He had the hots for Jackie too. Ever hear the recorded phone calls he made to Jackie?
Interestingly, there was a supplement in the Times a couple of weeks ago and the JC Killy was one of the watches they specifically mentioned. Their view was that a good one is worth about £150,000 so it seems this one is not too far over priced - but if the Times talks about a good one, I'll bet that means a pristine dial.
Any of you guys watched The Fog Of War by Robert McNamara? Sort of puts an interesting spin on LBJ and his handling of policy, especially the Vietnam conflict.
