Not sure if the reference match the movement, will have to check later. I like the thin fonts but it is a redial. Others can confirm.
Hmmm... Case severely corroded, bad redial (not matching the counter diameter) and mismatch between month and day language :/
Thoughts on this one? No ref on the caseback. Is that right? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221557558604?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Hi all, any thoughts on this Medico-Compax? Thanks in advance. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261605734068Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Refinished dial (with posterior fonts) and seems like re-stamped references and serial on the back, very fishy to me.
Hi, I mean that according to the (strange) serial nr. the case is from 1945-46 and the fonts from the little dials were used in the middle 50-60, not to mention the dial logo introduced around 54. The strange thing is that the UG on the inner side of the back cover was introduced in 53... I'd say the dial is a refinished from a mid 50' dial and for the rest, a do-it-yourself work that only the seller knows
I'm going to agree with Jimmy about the dial and disagree about the case. The serial and reference numbers are kosher. I wonder, from his analysis, whether Jimmy is reading the second digit of the case number as a 6 instead of an 8? The case has had a polish. I would say that the case and all of the hands, the pushers, and probably even the crown are original equipment. The movement looks good. On the redial, the artist fell down on the spacing of GRADUADO and PARA, and didn't make the 3-minute telephone hash marks on the minute subdial long enough. The "GENEVE" font should be smaller, and the tops of all the A's should be flattened, not pointy. The numbering of the subdials and minute register is surprisingly good, but the numeric font on the pulsometer ring is way off. I would recommend a close comparison with this one, which is the best 124116-3 I've seen: http://omegaforums.net/threads/my-l...ax-plus-some-questions-the-joys-of-ebay.6233/ ...or this one, which is the second-best 124116-3 I've seen. http://omegaforums.net/index.php?threads/New-Arrival:-Spanish-Medico-Compax.17078/ In sum, a good candidate for a dial transplant, but not at that price.
this is a rather nice original tri-compax moon phase. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221557558604?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:ITPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network thoughts? value? worth a punt?
Seller said the watch is 30mm across the top of the crystal and 34mm of the back case, sound rather small? The font used for the numerals also looks similar with the one Ben from Hodinkee acquired from the Sotheby's Graves auction.
Now this is one rare UG/GP Aero..... Other then the mismatched pushers, this is a sweet watch. Love the owner initials and 1944 date on the case back. And if you can put up with the horrible re-lume, there's a GP Tri-Compax http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Girard...623454739?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item3f3e050013Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
