So tell us how it went down: Did AQ know which ref. they were selling? What was on the paperwork?

They probably have no clue or weren't bothered. Given my one other experience with a Zenith A384 with them, they do not include reference or serial numbers in their invoices. At least not with vintage I guess. Only a generic description of a steel UG mechanical Tricompax was included. Not that I am really bothered.

So they're not as dumb as we thought. The whole system is specifically setup to avoid re-printing any questionable or erroneous descriptions once they've collected their treasure.

    Hold that thought.

While we're having fun with UNiversal at Antiquorum, here's lot 186 from this week's sale. What's wrong with this picture? Give yourselves 10 seconds to spot it. And I'm being generous.

Ha nice Datocompax, it seems being an AQ watch specialist translates to reading what it says on the dial and putting that in the catalog.

Based on all this fun, I suppose their legal department is top notch.

They don't need to, read their terms:

    This is my favourite bit:

The guarantee does not apply if the catalogue description was in accor- dance with the opinion of generally accepts experts and specialists at the date of the sale , or the catalogue description indicated that there was a conflict of such opinions.

So basically, if our staff thought it was real, then it was real.
