I really want a YG type XX but I must be frank: my CPA has one and it hasn't aged well at all. It's mostly his daily wearer but the watch looks "tired". and, it's not because of the gold getting nicked up...the watch looks a little beat.

i still think it's the best looking watch ever made. Matt Bain sold a mint XX for ~8500 last year and I wasn't "ready". Still get a little pissed about that. First world problems. My dad (rip) would beat my a$$ if he heard me bicth about something lame and petty like that...

0 out of 10 for me also. I do have a Reverso high on my list when I get back into serious watch buying. I'll keep my non-iconic watches thankyouverymuch!

    Why no DateJust? ::confused2::

An XX in gold is all wrong. Gotta do steel. Then when it gets "tired" it'll look great.

I am not sure I could agree with myself on what belongs on such a list.

As it stands, I have owned several of those shown. A couple remain, others have been moved on.

You're always right with regards to all things watches. I'm sure there are other things that you (((suck))) at but you have the highest watch IQ of anyone I've ever known or met. I realize you probably hate when I drool and dribble all over you but the truth is the truth.

Maybe you would consider a Cartier if you ever wore a Tank Obus Mechanique Privee Collection ;-)

    Sorry John - No Cigar!

Please excuse my bad scan as it was taken a few years ago when I was learning how.

These "Buttons and Tac" were made to go with the watch my Mom had made for Dad. The watch, a Christmas present, was engraved "Mike love Claire 1955"

Only these remained after my Parents suffered a home invasion in 2007. These were still in my Dad's shirt and tie from the night before. Dad's reasonable watch collection and all of Mom's jewelry were taken ;-(

Thank God, Mom and Dad weren't home when this happened.

    5 3 register chrono's?

    8 round dials?

    seriously, no Polyplan?

    No Curvex?

    No DJ or DD?

    and no Ventura?

I'd do the Reverso and prolly the Heuer but everything else is almost exactly the same as the watch next to it.

I do love the Polyplan but they're so rare, so niche, and so unknown than its hard to include them, DJ/DD is a pretty average example of the Oyster compared to the Sub, and Ventura while interesting was more an oddity, you could argue for an Accutron Spaceview too but its equally niche

Sub.... why not as the quintessential dive watch have the Panerai?

Because it ain't. Before the late 1990s, Panerai had no consumer or commercial market presence - Zero. All production was for the italian military, and in very low numbers. Compare that with a half century of dive watch domination in multiple military, commercial and consumer markets.

Absolutely true. However, since 1990 it has become an icon of Italian style in watchmaking.
