I purchased a Thomas Preik sapphire caseback for my Omega 145012, and thought I'd try it on the 2998. Thomas offers a few different models so you just need to ensure you order the correct on for your movement/ case diameter. The quality, fit and finish of the caseback is fantastic. The spacer ring and threading all meshed without any force and the crystal clarity is flawless, allowing unhindered admiration of the Omega 321 movement as often as I like.
Thanks, I couldn't figure how to edit the title. I agree, Thomas's quality and price, compared with official Omega sapphire backs is very reasonable.
Oh shit, I remember seeing pictures of that and thought it was a FOIS not a 2998 from your pics because it didn't look beat up enough from a distance to be 2998 lol
I forgot you used have a 166.024 Seamaster until the other day . Lot of watches to keep track of around here
166.0024, mine was an imposter from watchco, was the only watch I ever sold in anger, the two crown seal options were "too leaky" or "too stiff" both of which didn't suit me being able to wind it and wear it in the pool.
I prefer the Omega case backs personally, but there is no doubt that these are far cheaper. Cheers, Al
Fr John on another forum ( 've never seen him over here?) had the engraving removed from the Omega back, looked really good.
None of my CBs have engravings ... so far. But these TP cbs make it so much easier to simply view the 321, anytime
I prefer the Omega case backs as the view is less closed in however having said that I've purchased at least 6 backs from Thomas as its so hard to justify Omegas price. Plus with the Omega one you need a different movement holder for it to work properly.
