An interesting development - member mappleluna brings to my attention a thread on the french-language watch forum Chronomania on the topic of these fakes. http://forum.chronomania.net/mix_entry.php?id=210296#p211373 In brief, the question of authenticity of these models was raised and one of the members had the idea to write UG, providing pics of one of the fakes which for some reason I can't cut and paste here, but they are from this sales listing:http://cda.chronomania.net/forum_entry.php?id=102553). Universal Genève SA Case postale 128 1217 Meyrin 2 +41 (0)22 307 78 80 Dear Sir, We thank you for your message and we inform you that, based on the images provided, the watch in question appears to be authentic. Universal Geneve did in fact produce a limited series of this model. In contrast, the crown does not appear to be original; ours always bear our logo. As for the serial number, it is possible that the same number was engraved on every watch in the series, thus on more than one watch. [the writer evidently pointed out that the serial number was the same on multiple examples of the watch]. We remain at your disposition, and we take the opportunity to thank you for your efforts moderating your forum and congratulate you for hghlighting the value of our watches for collectors. Very sincerely, Universal Genève SA Case postale 128 1217 Meyrin 2 +41 (0)22 307 78 80 In light of the surprising reply, the gentlemen of Chronomania are preparing a followup letter of clarification. I'm interested in your reactions and suggestions for followup questions.
Another fake on fleabay (thanks Lou for the education) 171246324568. I can't access it on eBay.com but it is searchable on my eBay iPad app.
Sent the link of this page to the said seller. He is not showing the back of the watch on his listing. His response was "Die Uhr ist 100% original". Very ungerman....
from eBay item listing 171246324568, just learned how to post pics . fits the diver case back description in this thread very well. Seller didn't post case back though.
They're backkkk. Look at the quality of this redial coming out of Vietnam! Link.Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network Luckily an honest seller, disclosing that it's a redial... I hope the same can be said of the folks hawking the watches that these get paired with. After careful study--and only because I knew it was a redial!--I've been able to detect a few subtle differences from the originals. I will NOT, however be posting my observations, lest they be used to improve the next printing die to the point that the redials are undetectable.
Noted this one before http://omegaforums.net/threads/shockingly-good-redial.8575/ - don't know if this is the same one, or he is turning them out by the hundred, as he well could do if he's gone to the trouble of recreating the cliche. Anyway, it puts the fakers to shame.
New fake (I think) from seller christa997 in Germany. The France/Germany/Belgium vortex of fake Space Compaxes persists.... the thing that burns me is that they seem to have plenty of authentic bezels, which are otherwise introvabile http://www.ebay.de/itm/Universal-Ge...soires_Uhren_Armbanduhren&hash=item35d30c0c56Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Fake one now at Christie's. See this thread: http://omegaforums.net/threads/alert-fake-space-compax-at-christies.17696/
Here's another fake one. Coming out of Zurich Thank you LouS. http://www.fr.ricardo.ch/acheter/mo...sal-geneve-1970er-space-compax/v/an747245372/
Thanks to Henrik for giving me the heads up about this thread. I've been eyeing this model up following my recent acquisition of a Compax Check this out http://www.chronext.co.uk/buy?q=universal geneve
A space-compax coming up in a chrono24 auction - looks bad. https://chrono24.auctionata.com/intl/o/149902/universal-geneve-space-compax-chronograph-c-1970
Hello. Im interested in those an model and looking for more informations to buy an good one...it seems there are many and more fakes at the market as original one right!?!? Auctionata is an big auction house with "watch specialists"... are you sure this is an fake UG???
Sorry about this question but you are an UG specialist ? From where do you have your informations? To have 100% secure you have to send the watch to UG directly and let it check right!?
