Hi guys, I finally have my hands on a nicely aged universal geneve, caliber 130 (38mm). Is there a way to find out more about the history of this particular watch (e.g., year of production)? Cheers! blue hands. by eliwee., on Flickr
Cal 130 is a Valjoux 72. Interesting that ELV web has a similar one with a cal 281. This may be the model that transitioned UG from its own calibres to V72s. That would put it at early 1960s, as Zenith acquired the UG chronograph movements in 1960.
Old_stuff, if that is the case may I call dibs on yours. good Sunday! (And thanks Lou, once again, for the wisdom)
maybe this thread is interesting... my one greets you too! http://omegaforums.net/threads/my-new-one.11704/ There are two differences I can see is: the inner bezel seems black on yours and there is no typo "COMPAX". Please let us know the serial and type which is engraved on the back, if it´s still readable...
Hi guys, Thanks for the insights! And yes, omega67, the link you provided is very similar to my watch. In addition to the two differences you mentioned, the dial is "swiss" instead of "swiss T". I will try to open up the caseback when I have my hands on the tools. Cheers!
Hi all, another Ref.22704/1, arrived just today, same as omega67, except the swiss T, only swiss Cheers
Wow! You guys are amazing! The serial number on my watch is hard to make out, but I think it is 22704-1.
gorgeous!! is the bracelet genuine to the watch? never seen one on catalogues - but I still want one same calibre 130 stamped? btw - seeing the question on start, from the serial my one is from around 1964.
After 9 years, maybe time to punch this thread up again with another example of the same 38mm, Caliber 130 (Val 72) Compax 22704 first shown above. Love it!
