Stunning cars, but unfortunately a not a financial success for Alfa, they lost money on every one the sold.

There's a sad looking brown one at my mechanic's garage sitting in a corner, but that one is simply beautiful

I have a bit of the Alfa bug

My current one below, keep planning to sell it but its so much fun to drive and sounds fantastic.............typical Alfa really :D

My wife also drives an Alfa, a red one, which she also loves despite its leather seats and rubbish AC in a country where its toasty most of the time

My 'fun' car happens to be an '89 Alfa Romeo Milano Verde. Yes, I'm biased, but one would be very hard pressed to find any vintage performance cars that are remotely as fun, for so little money. The aesthetics are polarizing (I happen to like them), but the V6 engine is exceptionally fine, and sounds every bit as good as most of those found in six figure Ferraris and Maseratis. The handling is brilliant – far better than many exotics that cost small fortunes. Recaros were standard in the Verde model. Mmmm...think I'll take her for a spin!

    Bob Wallace 1938-2013

Legendary test driver Bob Wallace died on Thursday, September 19.
Born in Auckland in October 1938, the Kiwi arrived in Italy aged just 21, following a brief stint with Lotus en route. Following spells spannering on assorted Ferraris and Maseratis, and a spell with Lloyd ‘Lucky’ Casner’s Camoradi USA equipe, he found employment with Ferrucio Lamborghini’s eponymous start-up operation in Sant’Agata.

Wallace became Lamborghini’s chief test driver, a position he held from 1963 to 1975.
Wallace was instrumental in developing the first Lamborghini product, the 350GT, and played a pivotal role in sorting the Miura supercar.
He would often assess prototypes on the Autostrada at colossal speeds, the Countach being another car to benefit from his deft touch. However, Wallace wasn’t anywhere near as successful when it came to persuading Mr Lamborghini to support a motor racing programme. He viewed it as an expensive distraction, but this didn’t stop Wallace from building a Miura-based track car, even if the one-off Jota didn’t get to compete in anger. The same was true of his special Urraco and Jarama S-based circuit weapons.
After leaving Lamborghini, Wallace returned to New Zealand before moving to Phoenix, Arizona where he continued to work on exotic cars until his death from a heart attack, aged 75.

Interesting to see the Alfa Sud Sprint turn up, have any of you guys outside of Australia heard of / seen the Giacattolo? Was a car made in the 1980s with an Alfa Sprint turned into a mid-engined V8 lightweight supercar here in Australia
