Just wondering what your thoughts are on the subject. I see that there is one available but it at a significant cost pretty much the same as the Rolex give or take a couple of grand.

In your *opinion* which is the better "buy"? They both speak to me, obviously one is more rare than the other but I'm having a little bit of a hard time choosing one over the other.

Is the 3201 significant enough of a caliber over the SD4k? Both aesthetically sign to me. But I am on the lookout to acquire modern classics. Part of me wants to get the omega because of the movement. The other part wants the Rolex diver because it's a Rolex diver...

I appreciate input while going through the decision process...

The only thing worse than a fake Rolex is a real one. Get the speedy

Well thats a pretty extreme statement, in this particular case I'd actually go the SD4000

    Well...

I have the 50th Anniversary and that watch is beautiful. Open caseback showing the 3201 movement which is the only speedy to have this. Enamel dial and spare croc strap and deployment...

Walk around and see how many Rolex you see... Then look for the 50th!

    Good luck spotting one!

SD4000 is still a reasonable size unlike the DSSD, has a great bracelet with micro-adjust and imo is the pick of Rolex's current diver lineup, the 50th anniversary is a cool watch too but I'd prefer a Speedmaster to have a Cal 321 and don't really like the fact that they used sapphire on it instead of hesalite.

what's more important for you? a diver or a chronograph watch? between your two stated options, I'd go with the SD4000, but I rather get the previous 16600 model.

Of those two, I would go for the SD4000.

It's a great size, wears much like a SubC. I personally prefer vintage Speedmasters to any current offering.

This is the main reason I'm considering this model and a little stuck, the speedy is way less common. But Omega makes so many limited editions! The 50th also doesn't seem to be as coveted, at least not yet. Could that change? Possibly. I like that it is the only manual wound coaxial. But the SD4000 is classic as well but more common...

Ultimately I went for the 114060.. I liked everything about the SD4k on paper and it was a better person overall deal 15%off no tax, but it just didn't feel right.. It was too top heavy and thick, but it looks better!!!

Overall the subC just felt better.

I paid retail price, no tax 9%, and first service included, not a bad deal not as good as the SD4k only 1.5k difference but I couldn't pull the trigger..

Wore it home and it just felt right on my wrist..

The SD4k definitely looks better with the smaller lugs and the bezel but I just wasn't feeling it. I have small wrists btw.

    Thanks for all the advice...

Ok ultimately I went back and exchanged the SubC for the SD4000

One of the co-owners recognized my Omega PO LM LE and commented that was one of his favorite Omegas and offered to buy it on the spot, while I was trying on the SD4k. I politely declined.

While I was there I took a look at the platona for entertainment purposes.

Wow, the SubC looks like a tank next to the SD4000. Dweller please!
