    I picked this one up on poor pictures and at a fair price.
    I am bevildered by the uniform color of the markings and text on the dial.
    Never mind the modern bracelet. That might come up for sale later!

    Comments welcome!

    Looks ok to me. The discoloration of the writing is patina of the dial.

    Thanks guys! ::psy::
    I did have a good feeling about it.
    Problem was that I only had a very low res pic to go on before making my humble bid..,,,,
    Seems the gamble paid of;-)

    Great looking Seamaster, congrats. Do you have a good guess as to the year on that one?

    Very nice pick-up, well done! Gilt dial on a SM300, don´t think I´ve seen one before.

    I´m sure it will look stunning after some TLC

    The gilt printing on the dial is most likely original, not age related patina. More usually seen on very early examples but there are so few around it's hard to be objective. Nice watch!

    Correct Ash.
    Here's my early 165.024-64, with the gilt dial ... and a compare shot with a normal 165.024 dial... flash shot, but makes the difference obvious.

    Didn't know they used both stick and spade shape hands. Always learning something new.

    For the SM300 that is correct. There are several good articles about on the subject.
