I have been looking out for a vintage SM300 for a while, and was surprised to see this one in a shop window on my way home. I was a little suspicious as 1. This was one of the tourist trap type places (midtown NYC) and 2. The tagged price was $10k, which quickly reduced the more I ummed and ahhed - from 10k to 5k to 3800 to 3k! But something seemed off about the dial, the lume looked new, but very peachy in color - it remined me a bit of a modern faked patina. Anyway, I ran away, and the guy is going to call me tomorrow when the boss is back with 'his best deal'. Apologies for the rubbish photo, but I snapped it on my wait out for reference... Just a cursory hunt for info leads me to beleive the dial is wrong, as it has 'stubbies' and the 6s and 9s look too closed ( as well as the lume doubts ). Obviously I'm no expert though, so I'd appreciate any input. Many thanks in advance!
Thanks very much gents. I'm glad my spidey senses were working! I'm usually too impatient to wait and check things, but I'm learning that's the only way to play this game! Really appreciate the help, thanks.
One of the first resources I found in regards to a vintage Seamaster SM300 if that's a watch you would like to acquire. http://thatwatchandmore.blogspot.com/2013/03/buying-vintage-omega-seamaster-300.html
