Would appreciate the membership's expert observations on this one please. 15.7mm serial, so '57ish. Thanks much. [
After looking at several known examples, I've convinced myself it's good. Guilloche makes it hard to compare.
This one turned out to be a disappointment in hand. The condition of the dial was significantly different than I imagined from the seller pics, even granting a large allowance for sympathetic photo treatment. And the second hand is rusted nearly through in one spot. I suppose some flaking or damage could have happened during shipment, but unusual in my experience. After forwarding a few photos, I sent it straight back. And the seller very quickly agreed to cancel the transaction, no return policy notwithstanding.
What a disaster! Highlighting the flaws is always best, you might get a lower price but it saves hassle. I value hassle over money.
Thing is, that really is unbelievable. Do you think he photoshopped each blemish out, or do you think it was possible to light it to hide them that well? I was reading a thread on WUS where a seller was complaining about a buyer wanting to return a watch for dial damage that had appeared in 16 days - he'd compared his immaculate seller photos to the clear damage on the buyers as a defence and it was obvious something was off; I was feeling a lot of sympathy for the seller right up to the point someone noticed his photos were 11 months old.
It's just another reminder that it's a jungle out there. Seller with hundreds of transactions & 100% positive feedback, many for vintage watches. The watch is now listed again, with new pictures. While they do not depict the same pristine condition as the previous set of photos, having held the watch in my hands, I would still say the next buyer is also going to be unpleasantly surprised. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-vintag...ic-BLACK-texture-DIAL-as-is-NR-/191411262622?Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Darlinboy, looks like you were lucky.... http://forums.watchuseek.com/f2/how-approach-ebay-seller-after-purchase-problem-1258162.html
Indeed, and sorry for the buyer. Looks as though this example is an even worse deal than I imagined. Shame on this seller.
I'm the poor chap who purchased this watch from the seller again, lol. I didn't mind the condition of the dial, but the broken balance really burned my ***.
