Could this be considered a Seamaster de luxe?

Can´t find any information on the Omega vintage data base...

It is a Ref. 165.009 SC 62, dial seems to be 18K

    powered by Cal. 562

Crown is wrong of course and will be replaced.

    Here are some pics:

    What do the experts think?

    regards

From what I've seen the deluxe label has been attached to non-chronometre seamasters usually (if not exlusively) those that had 18k gold dials.

    Hi Erich

Are you sure the dial is 18K? I cannot tell from your pic.

    Hoi,

to be sure I will have to pull the dial but the case back is veeery tight - I will need the help of a watchmaker to open it...

From the color of the dial I am pretty sure it is 18K

    I attach another picture

This GL dial was in the same era, caliber 561. You can see the fine lines running vertically south_north and it means it's 18K dial, But in the past, I have seen some rare exceptions that looked like it was painted in gold and we have to remove the dials to look at the back, some are 18k some are not.
Maybe yours is one of them.

    Here are the results:

I have pulled off the dial and voila: 18K stamped on the back!

    18K_dial back.jpg

and Hoi, it has also the vertical graining as your conny dial:

    dial.jpg

So we may assume it is correctly called a SM de luxe

I could not find anything useful about the reference yet - google brings up some examples with SS and gold capped versions but none with 18K and de luxe dial.

So we may assume it was available in a de luxe version as an option and not as a "de luxe reference only"...

    Would appreciate your thoughts

Congrats Erich. I would call it a SM de Luxe. too
If you had showed me the pic with vertical grain, I would have said it's a 18K dial right away (don't have to look at the back).

    Very nice watch
