It was never intended for NOS 30T2RGs or CK2998-1s, it was intended mainly for decent affordable entry and mid level watches that the bulk of newer members are looking for when starting out which in turn cuts back on the number of threads from a first time poster listing 5 junk grade watches asking which they should buy of the bad bunch.

If there's something like the PAF 2914 that recently sold it belongs in its own thread really like this: http://omegaforums.net/threads/paf-omega-railmaster-on-ebay.14789/

:) I find the recommendations interesting and educational even if the watch in question doesn't meet my 'standards'. And some of the changers have also been helpful, if for different reasons.

I've found it useful, and informative in many cases. One does need to consider carefully who is making the recommendation - his or her reputation and previously demonstrated knowledge and expertise does matter.

For example, if you see me recommending a watch, triple-check before purchase. ;)

Well, personally I don't think it's a wise buy for a newbie (just assuming that you are new to collecting) It could be costly as it states "assume not running"...(321 parts are getting harder to locate) Also has a few unoriginal parts. But to a collector these will always fetch a premium, as it's scarce.

I find, when a watch is shown here, you can mostly forget about getting the watch for a decent price any more :p

Well it went for US$4,330 - approx AU$4,600 or GBP2,550

Doesn't seem too long ago that fully vetted pieces in better condition/originality from trusted collectors hung around for sale on forums at very similar prices.

Good luck to the buyer [ I genuinely mean that because I do think that it looks like a pretty honest piece, from what we can see] but I think I'm well and truly priced out of the market now.
I set up a speculative snipe when it was sat at around US$2,076 with an hour to go but was never in the running.
[Even at the price I was willing to go to this would have been the second most expensive watch I'd have ever bought]

Looks like I'll have to be satisfied with my collection as it is.
[Certainly can't grumble. I was lucky with a few buys 2009 to 2012, even in terms of standard prices for those days]
Watch purchases in 2014 - Nil
    Watch purchases in 2013 - 1x Bulova US$600
Last Omega purchase - Dec 2012 ( a very lucky BIN).

    Ian

[slightly edited so as not to sound like quite such a sook / sooky la la ;) ]

Prices of Speedmasters are moving up for sure.
But it's a market like any other. They all tend
    to ebb and flow.

This watch ended up going for $4,150 on Ebay! I'm hoping my post and the critique of it saved somebody on our forum from being the winner! ;)

Nobody won it imo, the zero feedback bidder pushed it up and the 12 feedback bidder with 3 retractions won it, we'll be seeing it again.

    Dear All,
first of all please excuse me, that my first tread as a newbie is immediately a question and no introduction. Have to do some pictures for the introduction section at first. This watch on ebay looks good to me with the exception, that the movement number seems to start with 25x wich would not fit to the model according to the moon watch only book. What is your opinion?
    Thank you!

I wasn't looking for another 105.012 but interesting that it sold for US $5,387 after 49 bids

Not I (saw this way too late), but I am worried about the rusty regulator.
