Dial looks like the real deal. The smooth black dials of this era if in good shape were originally shiny.

Looks like ok to me apart from the two second hands and the bezel which is super rare anyway, is the date range wrong on the movement ? what's wrong with it?.

I've been looking at it and to be honest looks like a 2915 which had the hands replaced possibly and maybe the back case...in my humble opinion anyway

Looking at this very closely ... I'm thinking it is a redial ... sadly.

I see the minute hashes misaligned on either side of 12 index. I don't think Omega would of let it go out like that, back then.

Looking carefully at the fonts of OMEGA Automatic, compare to this: http://omegaforums.net/data/attachments/19/19189-9cbcaf198a84dc44035086a5fbd6e8bc.jpg in this thread http://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-118-391-2848-2846-sc-anyone-familiar.5710/

There's something off in the spread of the M in Omega; and the A in Automatic.

I made an offer, seller told me he already had an offer near $800. I wonder why the auction ended at $552?

I contacted gatorcpa about this box when it first showed up on Ebay. He thinks it might be for an Omega Seamaster 300, case reference 2913. Check the box out in this ad.

Hmm, not quite so. The 2913, 2914 and 2915 all came in the same type of red box with beige velvet inlay (I think!). It looks a lot like the one in the auction, but with some small design differences, for instance the groove in the lid. Here's mine attached in a collage, where you can see the same type of box on all the references in the adds (mine has "Omega" on the lid and the logo on the front. Think mine it a bit later than the ones in the adds, but same type.
But a nice box and have never seen one with almost the same design in brown and with automatic on the inside instead of "high precision". So perhaps, WHO knows.

And the included insert does not allow the box to close properly. And it was not in good shape.

hi new new to the site and I was also looking at the omega seamaster, but doing a search on the numbers on the case and it sates that the watch is stainless steel, so does this make this watch a frankenstien , can't find 18k for the date of manufacture....I'm new and learning, thanks for reading.

Actually, the 2849 reference was commonly made in both 14K and 18K gold, I've got a 14K version with deluxe dial. Welcome to Omegaforums mate!
