I always liked assembling things .... assembling my own PC's and HT's.
Small DIY'd on my car.. etc.,

I would like you take suggestions from you guys what would be good Omega watch for project... Buy Donor and parts and assemble it for NOS or Mint condition watch.
I am not planning on assembling them myself but would like to gather parts and donor.

What would be a good choice ? FlightMaster or Centenary? or anything else?

For your first, I would suggest something where you can find all the pieces without having to wait a year or more, such as a Seamaster 166.024 ( which will need the replacement case 166.0324)
All of the parts are obtainable by order and the movement can be obtained on eBay, either by buying it alone or buying a donor watch with a 565 or so movement.
These will give you a vintage looking new watch that you can wear around water.

Sounds like a fun project. I've seen a couple threads like this now. I like to tinker and tackle DIY projects, but I have to admit, it has never occurred to me to build my own watch from parts. I wonder if this is a possible new niche market segment someone could go after. The "Lego" of watches, you assemble. Maybe you take it into a local store front or dealer, and you get to use their equipment to dial in your watch and tune it up before completion.

Homage to the 1894 homage like Steve did and what I've done in the past also.

Nice idea. Try going to Cousins and searching for "Omega case complete". That will show you readily available cases.

If you're using an Omega watchmaker (such as Al), he will probably have access to a bigger range. Choose a case and see if Cousins (or Ofrei or Watchco) have a dial, hands etc and then start searching eBay for a movement. Then, let us know!

    Cheers, Chris

I would have said the SM300's as well, but since you don't like them, perhaps a Speedmaster Professional? There's a bajillion interchangeable parts, as well as a decent supply (for now, at least) of bits available? Watch this space for my latest project (coming soon) ;)

Aside from the SM300, have you considered the SM200 (SHOM)? I think these are pretty cool: [IMG]

I've seen them on lots of different straps too - rubber, deployment, shark mesh...

Looks like gold parts are hard and pricy... will stick with stainless steel ... may be 911...
Learnt recently that it is manually wound ...
