I think it's reasonable. The ability to post ads is surely one of the benefits of being an active member and obviously prevents just anyone joining to sell but not contributing. I'm sure if someone was a known and trusted member with 100 or so posts exceptions could be made.

It goes without saying that if I hadn't just passed 200 posts, this would be a completely unjust and draconian measure and I would be leaving the forum in protest!

Would you have thought that if you had 5k go missing?

While these measures are here to protect our members we understand that they are not the best but in the light of recent events we had to implement something as the same scammer was returning to take your cash next who knows!

We do make exceptions but we had to implement the new measure to all. We have and still manually add people that are trusted so they can access the FS sections.

I applaud these measures. And another thing, giving me your eBay account name doesn't qualify as feedback, at least to me. So someone reliably sold a lava lamp and a cell phone. Big deal. I have a raft of references from large dollar transactions.

The point is, I was new once, no one knew me either. It takes time and patience to build a reputation on a watch forum.

This is good news. The last thing I need is another facility with which I can purchase watches.

Interesting. I have 5,000+ posts on another premier forum and have just recently begun to post here. I understand the rules and want to abide by them - especially considering how they are really cutting edge for helping forum members keep from losing money. I wish more forums did this. Thanks.

from my limited experience I can say, don't worry. So long as your hearts in the right place, it'll work out fine. The rules are a net benefit .... no doubt.

But, dont spam me bro !!! :whistling:

Are you asking about dance crazes of the 70's?

I'm miles off 200. On a serious note, already think I'm seeing a downturn in number of private ads. Guess that original SM300 I was going to sell for £250 will have to wait another 110 or thereabouts posts :)

Or you can just contact mods for consideration.....I saw many have granted privilege below 200 count.
......but if your SM 300 is really for sale for GBP 250, I bet now your PM has already clogged with offers. Consider myself also offering you a generous GBP 251. ;)

Thanks for your kind offer, but I would not go against forum rules. Your offer is a very generous one, but alas, the SM300 is a figment of my imagination, which I will be seeking professional help with. If only…..::money::

I'm not sure how i feel about this. I put up two watches for sale here and at watchuseek and sold one to a happy customer who contacted me via WUS. So that wont count here.I bought a movement from a fellow member and worked out a deal with Archer for a SM300 build. That is an expensive piece. Doesn't that prove I'm no shmuck? I think there definitely needs to be a process for members to gain approval for posting when they are known to most members.

    Just my humble opinion.
